Lutheran High’s Gryphon Gala XXXIX, “A Gryphon Homecoming,” was held on Saturday, March 19, at Atonement Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Center in Metairie, LA. Over 230 people attended the event which included a sit-down dinner catered by Maple Café, a silent auction with over 340 items, and a verbal auction with over 34 items including a signed Anthony Davis jersey, an autographed Saints football, George Rodrigue Blue Dog artwork, and a puppy! Three alumni were honored as Alumni of the Year. Lori Growden Murphy, LHS Class of ’79, is the publisher of Inside Northside and Inside New Orleans magazines. Bobby Warren, LHS Class of ’81, was part of a large team from the Times-Picayune that received 2 Pulitzer Prizes for its coverage of a post Hurricane Katrina New Orleans and the region’s struggle to recover. Jodee Pulizzano, LHS Class of ’86, is celebrating her 25th year of coaching volleyball at Ben Franklin High School and was recently named the 27th winningest coach in the nation! Also honored were the members of the Class of 1993 as the alumni class of the year. Dinner musical entertainment was provided by LHS parent Sherman Bernard and the “Ole Man River” band. With so many alumni and friends of LHS in attendance, it truly was a Gryphon Homecoming! Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!!
