A congregational assessment is a fee charged to all congregations of the Southern District. It is a primary source of income to offset the operating costs of the convention. (There is no attendee registration fee for the convention.)
The assessment fee is based on a congregation’s number of communicant members, as reported in it’s annual statistical report to the Synod.
Congregations will receive a Treasurer’s Memo from the Southern District Business Office at the end of August 2024, with information about the congregational assessment. The Treasurer’s Memo will include the per-communicant member cost.
How Will Congregations Be Notified of Their Assessment?
The Southern District Business Office will mail an assessment invoice to congregations at the end of November 2024. The assessment invoice will include the total cost of the congregation’s assessment.
When Are Congregational Assessments Due?
Congregational assessments are due no later than February 1, 2025.
