St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta, AL, hosted its first community Trunk or Treat with the help of a Thrivent Action Team grant.
It was very successful, and they hope to invite more churches in the area to participate next year. In addition to giving out candy, children were given Christian treats like cross necklaces, Christian instant tattoos, fish necklaces, and “Jesus Loves You” pencils. Children were able to make crafts and, if they did not have time, the crafts were packaged to-go, in Ziploc bags for them. There were games to play, like pop the balloon, and all participants received glow sticks. Children could paint pumpkins and interact with others that were there. It was a wonderful evening for young and old in our congregation and community.
