Shepherd of the Bay Food Pantry

We are richly blessed at Shepherd of the Bay in Lillian, AL, to have had the opportunity to help feed hungry people right here in our community for the past four years.

In 2016, Shepherd of the Bay Food Pantry has purchased over 12,149 pounds of food from Feeding the Gulf Coast in Mobile, for a total cost of $2,801.47. In addition, we also have purchased food using Thrivent Visa cards.

We have had food donated from friends and neighbors in the Lillian community as well. Various groups such as Shepherd of the Bay and St. Mark’s LWML groups. Perdido Grande Dames Red Hatters, United Methodist and Advent Episcopal churches, the members of Shepherd of the Bay, memorials, Optimist Club, Lillian Women’s Club, and Lillian Community Club are just a few that have given us monetary gifts.

We have received grants from Thrivent and the Gulf States LWML District. We have applied for a grant from Lutheran Hour Ministries and various other organizations.

These are just a few things that need to be done to keep our pantry operating: praying unceasingly, copying documents, unloading the food truck, stocking shelves, packing bags, checking temperature charts, doing inventory (monthly), packing frozen products, handing out grocery bags, checking in people who help (weekly), record-keeping, computer ordering, and statistics (reports). Without all this help, we would not be able to keep our food pantry operating.

Thank you to each of you who have helped make our food pantry a success. Without all this help, it would not be possible to perform this ministry for hungry people right here in our own community.

Monetary donations and non-perishable food are accepted at Shepherd of the Bay to help us continue our outreach to the Lillian/Elberta communities. (We are an equal opportunity provider.)
