On Saturday, June 30, 2018, newly-elected President Rev. Eric C. Johnson; Vice Presidents, Circuit Visitors, and Board of Directors were installed during a special worship service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Slidell, LA. Please pray for these elected leaders, as they begin the important task of walking alongside all of us, in the mission the Lord has laid before us.
Fellowship Through Basketball
The Church of the Holy Spirit Fire Basketball Team, 14 and under, was undefeated this year. We give God all the credit. Church of the Holy Spirit, in Attalla, AL, was the smallest church in the league, but God gave us the best team and an undefeated season.
125th Anniversary – Zion in Clinton
Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton, LA, celebrated 125 years on June 1-3, 2018. German immigrants were farming in Southeastern Louisiana. One of their children became ill, and they requested a pastor to baptize the sick child. The New Orleans Mission District sent A.W. Heyne to perform the service.
Making a Splash at St. Mark’s VBS
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta, AL, hosted its Vacation Bible School during the first week of June. The theme was Splash Canyon. Children learned that life is full of thrills and spills; we may not know what’s around the bend, but God does and He is always by their side.
Who’s the Biggest Egg Head?
Vacation Bible School at Grace Lutheran Church in Pensacola, FL, was a tremendous success. We had 88 children attend the program. We tried to have a fun promotion during VBS, so the kids would support someone and cheer for them to win. Ideally, they would get to know members of our congregation a bit better through a fun outreach.
Confirmation Celebration at Trinity in Mobile
Pentecost Sunday, May 20, 2018, was an exciting day at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobile, AL. Seventeen young people were confirmed and became the newest confirmed members of the congregation. They completed two years of instruction under the direction of Rev. Dr. Ulmer Marshall. After the service, a reception was held in the Marshall Fellowship Hall, in their honor to celebrate their accomplishments. They, along with their parents, have committed to continue their Christian education by attending Sunday school each Sunday.
