  • Senior Youth Mission Trip

    Description:

    Every three years, the Southern District Youth Committee has scheduled a mission trip for the High School Youth. In 2018 we will be joining with YOUTHWORKS in Nashville, TN. The opportunities to serve and learn will be at soup kitchens, community VBS programs, a Community Garden, children’s summer education and empowerment programs, elderly care center, and Habitat for Humanity. YOUTHWORKS staff will give orientations for the ministry sites, helping us to better understand how we will be serving the community each day.
    These trips have been instrumental in building connections among our district youth. Friendships have been made, connections with others continue from the previous trips, and a spirit of being in the Lutheran community grows strong!
    Registration cost is $299 and we only have 80 spots available. Registration will open December 1st and run through February 15th. This event will be a tailor-made event. A musician will be there, to work with our chaplain. Our chaplain will lead an opening worship service, and morning and evening devotions.
    This is open for Southern District church youth groups. If you don’t have a group, individuals with an adult or parent are welcome. Contact DCE Cindy Namanny with any questions (dce@orlcms.org).
